Go to Start – Control Panel – Network and Internet
Click on the Network and Sharing Center and then “Set up a new connection or network”

When asked to choose a connection option, select “Connect to a workplace”
and click the Next button.

Click “Use my Internet connection (VPN)”

Enter your VPN details. In the Internet address field, enter one of the Whatsonthebox server IP addresses sent to you by email.
In the destination name field, enter Whatsonthebox UK for one of the UK server IP’s or Whatsonthebox US if using a US IP. The sme goes for our Canadian server.

Click Next
Enter your user-name and password sent to in your registration email.
Enter your user-name. Your password is not required yet so leave this blank for now.
Leave the Domain (optional): box empty.

Click Connect.
Windows will attempt to connect to the VPN, but as we aren’t finished setting up click on the Skip button.

the dialogue box will now say “The connection is ready for use”. Click on the Close button.

You will be returned to the Network and Sharing Center. Click on Change adapter settings.

Right click on the server IP address you entered previously and select Properties.
The properties window will be displayed:

Click on the Security tab
“Point to Point Tunneling Protocol (PPTP)” for the type of VPN connection.
Make sure that the Data encryption section is set to “Optional encryption” then click OK.

You will now return to the Network Connection window. To create a Desktop shortcut for the VPN, drag the Whatsonthebox (or whatever you named it) icon onto your Desktop.

Click on the Whatsonthebox icon or shortcut and it will launch the VPN connection box.
