Windows XP Setup

Use our easy step by step instructions to set up a Whatsonthebox VPN network account on Windows XP in 5 mins.

To connect to our VPN servers, you will need your user-name and password that was emailed to you when you registered your account with Whatsonthebox.

Step 1. Open Network Connections

Click on Windows Start and then Control Panel. Click on the Network Connections icon in Control Panel and then click on Create New Connection.

Step 2. Click Next

Press Next to continue when the new connection wizard box appears.

Step 3. Connecting to a Network

Choose ‘Connection to the network at my workplace’.

Step 4. Select Virtual Private Network

Select the Virtual Private Network connection and click Next.

Step 5. Enter Connection Name

When you are prompted to type a Company Name, type Whatsonthebox and click the next button.

Step 6. Public Network Screen

Select ‘Do not dial the initial connection’ and click Next.

Step 7. Enter a VPN Connection Name

Enter one of the VPN server IP addresses which were sent to you by email. Click Next.

Step 8. Select which users you want to be able to access My Private Network

Select whether the connection should be available to all users on your computer or just you. Click Next.

Step 9. Click Finish

Your Whatsonthebox VPN setup is now complete. Click Finish.

Step 10. Windows will connect to Whatsonthebox VPN Service

Enter your user-name and password and click on the Connect button.

Step 11. Network Icon Displayed

Once you have connected to our VPN server you should see a small network icon in the bottom right corner of your task bar. Placing your mouse cursor over the network icon will display the connection status.
